Major road reopens in Crewe 'ahead of schedule' following resurfacing

A major Crewe road has now officially reopened following a full resurfacing, ahead of schedule.
Remer Street officially reopened on Thursday 21 August, following two weeks of works.
The Crewe East road, closed between Middlewich Street and Elm Drive, was targeted to be reopened by Friday 22 August.
Remer Street has been resurfaced for its entire distance, with new road markings, pedestrian crossing lining and gully cleaning also completed.

A Cheshire East Highways spokesperson said: "Our Remer Street, Crewe resurfacing scheme is now complete, ahead of schedule.
"During the closure, we carried out multiple tasks to reduce future disruption including gully emptying and carriageway markings and pedestrian crossing lining.
"Thank you for your patience."
These works were part of a record £53 million investment in Cheshire East Council's transport infrastructure for 2025/26, the largest in a decade.
It follows the resurfacing of Bradfield Road and North Street in July, with Remer Street works completing the 1.6-mile stretch of road (with the exception of Broad Street Roundabout.
