Gresty Road and Coronation Street came together this month - as a lifelong Crewe Alexandra supporter celebrated his 90th birthday with a Cobbles star.

Frank Baldwin has been watching Crewe Alexandra matches for over 65 years.

The family of 90-year-old season ticket holder sponsored Crewe's New Year's Day clash with Tranmere Rovers - in honour of the impressive milestone.

Jamie Kenna played main antagonist, Abanazar, in the pantomime Aladdin at Crewe Lyceum Theatre over the festive period (Ryan Parker).

Lee Bell's men came up trumps with the perfect birthday present - with Charlie Colkett's stunner earning a 1-0 victory at The Mornflake Stadium.

In December, Jamie Kenna told Nub News he wanted to see Crewe Alex play while he was in the area.

Frank's Son, Dominic said: "Dad will chat to anyone, so he loved speaking to Jamie, and Tranmere's Executive Chairman Mark Palios.

"The win topped it off, so it was a great day all round."

Crewe Alexandra followed up the Tranmere Rovers victory with a 0-0 draw against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday (January 7) (Ryan Parker).

Frank has been an active member of Crewe Rotary Club and started supporting the Alex during his mid-twenties - after his family came over from Ireland.

The great-grandfather has supported Crewe ever since and was delighted to see his side pick up three points against Tranmere.
