REMEMBRANCE Sunday was marked with an outdoor service at Wistaston.

Parishioners were joined by scouts and guides outside St Mary's Church yesterday morning for the service which was conducted by the Revs. Mike Turnbull, Paul North and Sarah Butcher.

The parade began in front of Wistaston Memorial Hall, where the proceedings were also conducted outside because of the pandemic, before moving onto Church Lane, where large poppy heads were attached to roadside posts, and onto the church.

The names were read of the men from Wistaston and Rope who perished during World War I and World War II and wreaths were placed at the Wistaston and Rope War Memorial.

During the morning Gerald Newbrook laid on a display of a replica World War I Boy Scout Ambulance.

A Remembrance poppies cascade, the work of the 35th South West Cheshire (Wistaston) Scout Group, was on display at St Mary's Church.

In Willaston the service was held at the war memorial on Colleys Lane and was conducted by the Revs. Paul North and Sarah Butcher.

Attendees included Cllr Sarah Pochin (Mayor of Cheshire East), Cllr Stuart Bostock (Mayor of Nantwich), Cllr Craig Bailey (Chairman, Willaston Parish Council), John Dwyer (President, Nantwich and District Branch of the Royal British Legion), David Hulse (Standard Bearer, Nantwich and District Branch of the Royal British Legion), 26th South West Cheshire Scout Group, Sea Cadets, Air Cadets.
