JD Wetherspoon announces 70 jobs in new £1.5 million Crewe pub
By Ryan Parker 24th Aug 2026
Pub operator JD Wetherspoon is set to open its new pub in Crewe on Tuesday 1 September, with the creation of 70 new jobs.
The pub, which will be named The Marshfield Bank Farm House, will open on the site of the former Beefeater pub/restaurant in Coppenhall Lane, Woolstanwood, following a development project costing £1.5million.
It will be managed by Vicky Dixon, who was previously pub manager at The Hippodrome in Market Drayton and was also a previous manager at The Gaffers Row, Crewe until this site was closed.
Historically, Marshfield Bank Farm, including what is now Green Paddock Farm, on the other side of Middlewich Road, took its name from the surrounding area.
Its name derives from Marshfield Bank, which, going even further back in history, has long been a named area of fields and farms in the locality.
The name of the new pub recalls this local history.
The Marshfield Bank Farm House pub will be open from 7am until 12midnight Sunday to Thursday and 7am until 1am Friday and Saturday.
Food will be served throughout the day, from opening until 11pm every day.
The new pub will specialise in real ales and traditional ciders, as well as craft and world beers, serving a wide range of different draught ales, as well as bottled beers, including those from local and regional brewers.
The Marshfield Bank Farm House will be open for family dining, with children, accompanied by an adult, welcome in the pub up until 9pm, throughout the week.
It will be wheelchair accessible and have a specially adapted toilet for people with disabilities.
The pub has a large beer garden to the front of the property.
Historical photos and details of local history, as well as artwork and images of local scenes and characters of the area, are also displayed in the pub.
The local heritage has also influenced the interior design of the new pub, which takes inspiration from the traditional character of a farmhouse and working agricultural setting, with warm, welcoming spaces and the use of natural materials.
Pub manager, Vicky, told Nub News: "Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into The Marshfield Bank Farm House and we are confident that the pub will be a great addition to the local social scene."
