A historic Crewe hotel located opposite the town's railway station looks set to reopen soon, after a new premises licence application was submitted.

On Monday 4 March. Crewe Arms Hotel, Nantwich Road submitted an application to Cheshire East Council.

The 19th-century venue has been closed to the general public for around 18 months, with it being used temporary housing for asylum seekers.

As part of The Home Office's Asylum Seekers Programme, Ibis Styles Crewe, Emperor Way, and The Royal Hotel, Nantwich Road are also closed to the public.

With its new premises licence application, Crewe Arms Management Limited seeks permission for the supply of alcohol, Monday to Sunday, 24 hours per day.

The leisure facility also wants to provide recorded music, Monday to Sunday, from 7am to 11pm, as well as late night refreshment, seven days per week, from 11pm to 5am.

Its premises licence application is on display at the temporarily closed venue, which was previously operated by Best Western hotels and resorts.

The application reads: "Notice is hereby given that we, Crewe Arms Management Limited have applied on 4 March, 2024 to Cheshire East Council in respect of the premises known as Crewe Arms Hotel, Nantwich Road.

"This is for a premises licence to provide the following licensable activities: Recorded Music, Monday to Sunday, 7am to 11pm, Late Night Refreshment, Monday to Sunday, 11pm to 5am and Supply of Alcohol, Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day."

Crewe Arms Hotel's premises licence application is on display at the temporarily closed venue, which now wants to serve alcohol 24 hours, seven days per week (Ryan Parker).

Representations to Crewe Arms Hotel's application shall be made in writing to Cheshire East Council Licensing Section on or before Monday 1 April.
