Crewe man arrested after 'attacking' woman in the street

A Crewe man has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing injury, after "attacking" a woman in the street.

On Saturday 9 March, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident in the West Street area.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene, discovering a female had been assaulted in public.

A female was assaulted in the street in the West End of Crewe (Cheshire Police).

Police located a 33-year-old from Crewe, who was detained and arrested.

The man remains in police custody at this time.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "On Saturday 9 March, we received reports of an assault in progress, where a male was reportedly attacking a female in the street in the West End of Crewe.

"Crewe Response Team were dispatched, and a male was located and subsequently arrested.

A 33 year-old man from Crewe was arrested on suspicion of assault causing injury and remains in police custody (Cheshire Police).

"The male, 33, from Crewe, was arrested on suspicion of assault causing injury.

"He remains in police custody at this time."
