Firefighters tackle Crewe house blaze after chopping board left on top of stove
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled a house fire in Crewe - started from a plastic chopping board left on top of a stove.
The incident on Lunt Avenue, happened at 4:34pm on Saturday (October 1).
One fire engine from Crewe arrived at the scene - putting out the blaze.
Firefighters rushed to the kitchen of the property where it had started.
They discovered a plastic chopping board on top of a stove that had set alight and spread.
The firefighters extinguished the flames using a hose reel - ventilating the property with a large fan.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to a fire in a kitchen in Crewe.
"The fire involved a plastic chopping board that had been left on top of a stove.
"The crew used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire, then ventilated the property using a large fan."
This incident comes less than a month after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled a large house fire on the same street (Lunt Avenue).
