Firefighters respond to deliberate bin blazes in Crewe town centre
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled two bin fires in Crewe town centre - started deliberately in the middle of the night.
The incidents happened on Market Street and Victoria Centre, within Crewe town centre, at 2:24am on Sunday (August 21).
One fire engine from Crewe attended the scene - putting out the deliberate bin fires.
Nub News arrived at the scene to find a number of bins knocked over across the town centre.
Two bins of rubbish had been burnt across the floor. Another was left just spilled.
Crewe firefighters confirmed at the incidents they were acts of arson.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to two separate incidents in close proximity to each other, both involved bins being set on fire.
"Police were called due to the deliberate nature of the fires."
Firefighters used a hose jet reel to put out the bin fires. The perpetrators had already left the scene.
Today (August 22), a Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson provided an update on the incident to Nub News.
The spokesperson said: "The fires are believed to have been started deliberately.
"Anyone who has information is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary online quoting IML 1347589."
