"Fantastic" free health and wellbeing activities are set to start in parks across Crewe - thanks to a new three-year partnership.

On Tuesday 6 June, it was announced Crewe Town Council would be leading this new partnership with Everybody Health and Leisure - to develop and as part of a "Pop Up in the Parks" project.

The aim of the project is to use the green spaces in local parks to hold free fitness and wellbeing classes for residents that - accessible for everyone.

The 'Pop Up in the Park' classes will be running at Queens Park Play Area (Ryan Parker).

These activities aims to tackle social isolation and improve physical and mental wellbeing.

The "Pop Up in the Park" classes will launch on Monday 12 June and will run on a four-week rotation schedule, parks and activities will vary.

Three one-hour classes will be held in various locations each week between mid-June to mid-September each year for the next three years.

The classes are delivered by experienced coaches with all safeguarding checks are in place.

They include: Mother and Baby Walk, Yoga, Family Bootcamp,

Newly-appointed Mayor of Crewe, Cllr Dennis Straine-Francis, was delighted with the new "pop up in the park" initiative.

He said: "This is a fantastic initiative for all of the people of Crewe.

"It will have a direct impact on physical wellbeing and help to address social isolation in our local community in a fun and active way.

"It is great to see Crewe Town Council leading the way in finding new projects to effectively engage with the local community."

All classes last will last for 45 minutes, taking place across three Crewe parks: Mclaren Street Play Area & Muga, Queens Park Play Area and Queen Street Recreation Ground.

Director of health & communities and deputy CEO at Everybody Health and Leisure, Kerry Shea, was also pleased with the new partnership.

She said: "Improving the health and wellbeing in our local communities is our main aim, so we are delighted to be working in partnership with Crewe Town Council to deliver these accessible classes in local parks for Crewe residents.

Classes will also take place at Mclaren Street Play Area & Muga (Nub News).

"We will be providing a range of classes, including Mother and Baby Walks, Yoga and Family Bootcamp, the perfect way to get out in the open air and have fun whilst exercising with a like-minded community."
