Emergency services rush to attend Crewe house blaze incident
Emergency services rushed to attend a serious blaze at a Crewe terraced house, caused by a cooker being left on.
On Sunday 5 November, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a smoke alarm sounding on Walthall Street.
At 5:45pm, Two fire engines from Crewe and one fire engine from Alsager arrived at the scene.
Crews discovered there was no one inside the property.
They gained entry to the building and found a blaze involving a cooker, causing heavy smoke logging.
A large fan was used to disperse smoke. Crews then handed the incident over to attending Cheshire Police officers.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a smoke alarm sounding at a property on Walthall Street.
"Crews gained entry to the building and found a fire involving a cooker, which had caused heavy smoke logging.
"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the property for any occupants.
"After being satisfied that nobody was in the property, a large fan was then used to disperse smoke before the incident was handed over to attending police officers.
Cheshire Police confirmed to Nub News it assisted with a temporary road closure on Walthall Street.
