Storm Babet: Emergency closures placed on Crewe roads following flooding

Emergency closures have been placed on three roads in Crewe following flooding in certain areas of the town, caused by Storm Babet.

Capenhurst Avenue, Maw Green Road and Maw Green Lane, Haslington, were all temporarily closed by Cheshire East Highways on Friday 20 October.

These emergency closures come following heavy rainfall from Storm Babet, flooding certain highways.

The weather is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, with Cheshire East Highways posting regular updates on social media.

A Cheshire East Highways statement read: ""With Storm Babet causing heavy rainfall, please do not try and drive through any flood water.

"If you must head out over the next 24 hours. be prepared for potential flooding of roads.

"Take care, reduce your speed and allow more time to travel.

The emergency road closures in Crewe come following heavy rainfall from Storm Babet, flooding certain highways (Cheshire East Highways).

"If you see any flooding presenting immediate danger, including a threat to property requiring an emergency response, report it by calling 0300 123 5020 during working hours.

"Call 0300 123 5025 out of working hours."
