Everyone is invited to Crewe's annual Remembrance Sunday service and parade, taking place at Memorial Square on Sunday 10 November.

The Crewe Remembrance Sunday Service is organised by Crewe Town Council in partnership with the Crewe branch of the Royal British Legion.

The parade will muster at 10.30am at the Market Sheds on Lyceum Square (at the rear of Crewe Market Hall).

Between 9am and 1pm on Sunday 10 November, Prince Albert Street and Earle Street, between Crewe town centre and Vernon Way, will be closed for the Remembrance Sunday service (Ryan Parker).

Organisations wishing to lay a wreath will need to check in with the wreath laying desk in the Market Hall by 10.20am.

The parade will set off at 10.40am, leading into Memorial Square, with the Remembrance Service commencing at 10.50am.

At 11am, a two-minute silence will be observed giving guests, residents and visitors the opportunity to make their own personal silent tribute to all those who have died in the service of their country.

Between 9am and 1pm on Sunday 10 November, Prince Albert Street and Earle Street, between Crewe town centre and Vernon Way, will be closed for the Remembrance Sunday service.

The Crewe Poppy Project also returns for 2024, following its creation last year.

The Crewe Remembrance Sunday service is organised by Crewe Town Council in partnership with the Crewe branch of the Royal British Legion (Peter Robinson).

In 2023, Crewe Town Council partnered with Creative Crewe to decorate the town centre with trees of poppies in the run up to Remembrance Sunday.

Creative Crewe spent hours coordinating the 2,000 poppies donated and attaching them to the tree mesh, all on a volunteer basis.

For Crewe Remembrance 2024, Creative Crewe are co-ordinating the sewing of freshly-laundered poppies onto black cloth for this year's commemorations.

A Crewe Town Council spokesperson told Nub News: "The annual Crewe Remembrance Sunday service and parade is an opportunity for us all to gather as a community to show our collective respect to all of those who gave their tomorrow for our today.

"It is important we never forget the lives that have been sacrificed in the service of our country.

For Crewe Remembrance 2024, Creative Crewe are co-ordinating the sewing of freshly-laundered poppies onto black cloth for this year's commemorations (Crewe Town Council).

"The Sunday Remembrance Service in Crewe is a key part of commemorating those sacrifices and an opportunity for the people of Crewe to show our gratitude."

Wreaths can be purchased directly from the Royal British Legion – Crewe Branch Poppy Appeal organiser, Peter Rudd, by calling: 07717 664072.
