A popular Crewe sweet shop has expanded into a new store - following the success since launching in the town just four months ago.

Wattalotta Sweetz opened its bigger store with a new American range, inside Crewe Market Hall at 9:30am today (April 27).

The business first arrived in Crewe with a smaller unit within the market hall on December 7, 2021.

"We are expanding our unit as we have outgrown our old one," says joint-owner of Wattalotta Sweetz, Tom Watson.

Wattalotta Sweets is a joint venture between Mr Tom Watson and Ms Nicola Polles. The new expanded store with fresh decor and expanded sweet range.

Mr Watson, originally from Lutterworth, Leicestershire , moved to Crewe in April 2021 with his partner Ms Polles following a successful sweet business from his home during lockdown.

After trialling different ideas for the business and a successful pop-up market stall at Crewe Market Hall on Halloween night, Tom and Nicola enquired about suitable units available.

Within four months of the business launching within Crewe Market Hall, Wattalotta Sweetz has expanded further.

Mr Watson told Nub News: "We have so much more varieties of sweets that we can showcase here and are ready to expand.

"We opened in December last year, we're now on to our new venture in such a short space of time."

The sweet shop had been overcrowded at times, with customers lining up to buy their sweets far outside the unit.

With more than double the size of the previous unit, Mr Watson is hopeful that the business will continue to grow.

He said: "Our time at Crewe market hall has been good so far, we feel we have settled in really well.

"We have now ventured in to selling American sweets and treats. It has taken off really well, people go mad for it.

"A lot of people have requested we get other sweet treats from all over the world so we will expand on that we're thinking Japanese next."

The new sweet shop has opened next door to The Doghouse Craft Beer and Records store, which opened on April 13.

A new eatery launching within Crewe Market Hall is Noodle Gurus which opens today (April 27).

Mr Watson was pleased for the new stall, adding: "I think it's going to be a great addition to the market hall.

"We can't wait to get stuck in with them when they're open. The guys are lovely and we wish them all the best in their venture."

Wattalotta Sweets posted this photo on social media on April 12 teasing: 'something is happening' (Wattalotta Sweetz).

In celebration of Wattalotta Sweet opening their new store, the business will be offering customers 25 per cent off on pick and mix sweets for today (April 27).

This week, the sweet shop posted on social media: "So this Wednesday we are opening our new shop. So for all the loyal and regular customers we are doing a 25 per cent off on pick and mix sweets only.

"Just a little something for our opening. We are still in Crewe Market Hall. We will be open from 9:30am until 6pm. Come on down and grab yourself some sweets.

It added: "Thank you for all the continued support."

After starting the business from home two years ago, with just a few varieties of sweets sold in pizza boxes - Mr Watson has taken Wattalotta Sweetz a long way.

Wattalotta Sweets has grown significantly in the past two years, starting as a home business.

Mr Watson told the editor back in December: "I think the market hall is a brilliant set up, everyone is friendly and there are some good businesses in here too."

Wattalotta Sweetz is relishing the opportunity to expand even further over the coming months and years.
