Crewe sizzles into Wednesday - but watch out as volatile weather brings storms

THE volatile, humid weather is set to continue through the week in Crewe with the threat of thunder storms remaining.

The UK heatwave has seen the mercury soar to 28C today in Crewe and it could peak higher at 29C or even 30C tomorrow, Wednesday, in what would be the hottest day of the year for town.

But sun worshippers should be prepared for a downpour and the Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning for storms until Thursday night with the potential for lightning strikes and torrential rain.

Monday night was the fourth "tropical night" in the UK during 2020, defined by the Met as a night when the minimum temperature recorded was above 20C.

Heading into Thursday and Friday the temperatures are predicted to cool off as the threat of thunder recedes with figures of 25C (Thursday) dropping to 22C likely by Friday and the rest of the weekend in Crewe.

Those making the most of the hot snap should remember social distancing rules and tips to stay safe in the heat such as wearing protective clothing and lathering on the sun cream.

Make the most of it while it lasts, though, appears to be the message as the weather is predicted to be distinctly cooler next week.

Anyone heading to cool off in Nantwich Outdoor Brine Pool will need to book ahead. Public lane swimming and family sessions are available at the Wall Lane leisure centre. You can book here

Remember, though, that Crewe Lifestyle Centre's indoor pool is closed.
