Crewe man pleads not guilty to rape and sexual assault

A Crewe man charged with rape and sexual assault has pleaded not guilty to the allegations this February, with a trial now set for this September.
Michael Blundell, of Corbetts Close, Wistaston, was arrested on Sunday 6 July, 2025.
The 34-year-old was charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault by penetration.
Two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relate to an incident on Sunday 5 February 2023 in Prince Albert Street.
The other two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relate to an incident which occurred between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday 5 July 2025 in Edleston Road.
Blundell initially appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 8 July 2025, where he was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday 5 August.
This December, Crewe man was released on conditional bail until the February 2 trial at Chester Crown Court.
Blundell pleaded not guilty, with his trial set for Chester Crown Court on Monday 7 September, set to last for one week. He remains on conditional bail.
