Cheshire East councillors will consider an application for two houses on a Crewe site for the third time next week.

Nicholas Reynolds wants to build the houses on land to the rear of 203 and 205 Middlewich Street.

The council's planners had recommended the application be approved.

The Middlewich Street housing development has been deferred on two occasions by Cheshire East councillors (Google).

But, the southern planning committee deferred it in January and again in March because of concerns about flooding.

The second deferral in March came after councillors heard that nearby gardens were under six inches of water on the day of the planning meeting,

Dane Valley councillor Andrew Kolker (Conservative), had said there was already an existing drainage problem and 'I don't see how this is going to make it anything other than worse'.

Councillors then deferred the application for an in-depth flood risk report to be provided, which would include a site visit by the flood risk officer.

A report from the case officer to next week's meeting of the southern planning committee says a detailed drainage design has been provided and an underground storage tank would be constructed to serve the development..

It adds: "Council's flood risk officer is satisfied and considers there are no significant flood risk or surface water concerns."

The Middlewich Street application has been recommended for approval by the council's plannersn (Cheshire East Planning).

Crewe Town Council has objected to the scheme on a number of grounds including it is overdevelopment of the site and it would impact on the amenity of residents of Russet Close.

Nine neighbours have also objected. The application has been recommended for approval by the council's planners.

The southern planning meeting takes place on Wednesday 5 June at 10am at Crewe Municipal Buildings.
