A Crewe dad who suffered a potentially fatal brain bleed and survived a fall down a concrete stairwell at his block of flats last year - is now appearing on an episode of a Channel Five TV series.

Mr Duncan Cliffe, 47, from Crewe, had just arrived at his home from work in July last year when his brain bleed occurred.

It caused the construction worker to lose consciousness and fall all the way down the stairwell at his block of flats in Crewe.

Mr Cliffe was taken to the trauma centre at Stoke-on-Trent's Royal University Hospital by ambulance.

He looked after by medics at the hospital's Major Truma Centre and was intubated almost immediately upon entering RESUS due to blocked airways.

The father-of-two who survived the incident, will appear on Channel Five documentary series, 999:Critical Condition - tonight (June 29) at 9pm.

This Documentary series following the work of staff at Stoke-on-Trent's Royal University Hospital.

999: Critical Condition has no narration, showing the front-line NHS staff who explain the emergency cases they are faced with - and the course of action they will take for each.

In the episode, series four episode three, doctors are concerned about blood behind Mr Cliffe's eyeball.

In the brief description of the episode on Channel Five's website, it reads: "Duncan is admitted to Royal Stoke emergency department after falling down stairs."

The 999:Critical Condition episode airs tonight (June 29) at 9pm (Channel Five).

Mr Cliffe expressed his appreciation for the care he received at the Royal University Hospital.

As reported by University Hospitals of North Midlands website, the Crewe dad said "It was just a normal day when it happened and I had just arrived back from work at around teatime.

"I don't really have any recollection of what happened, the first thing I knew I woke up in A&E.

"I'm pretty much getting back to normal now and am hoping to return to work shortly and a bit of normality."

"I received really good care at Royal Stoke, the people were always very friendly. It's a good place."

Mr Cliffe is a father to 14-year-old Freddie and 20-year-old Jessica. 

The Crewe dad is now recovering from the potentially fatal incident at his home.
