This news has concerned Crewe West Labour councillors, Cllr Connor Naismith and Cllr Marilyn Houston.

Following the potential ground staff relocation, the councillors posted their concerns on social media.

A statement read: "We are alarmed by reports that Ansa is consulting staff on moving the three grounds staff from Queens Park in Crewe to Middlewich.

"Queens Park is a huge asset for Crewe and is a regular winner of the Green Flag Award.

"This is in no small part down to the fantastic work done by the Friends of Queens Park.

Crewe West Labour councillor, Cllr Connor Naismith at Queens Park (Crewe Nub News).

"We agree with them that a dedicated team of grounds maintenance staff at the park is vital for maintaining the park at a standard visitors from far and wide have come to expect."

Back in June, a building used for garden storage at the back of Queens Park's East Lodge was deliberately set on fire.

Without the work of Queens Park maintenance staff this fire could have bene much worse.

Cllr Naismith and Cllr Houston added: "Any proposal to move staff would also carry safety implications.

Crewe West Labour councillor, Cllr Marilyn Houston (Cheshire East Council).

"Only recently there was a fire at Queen's Park.

"We are concerned that if such an incident was to happen in the future, the level of response from staff may be slower.

"It is impossible to say what the consequences of that might be.

"We have made urgent enquiries on this matter and will support the Friends of Queens Park in opposing any plans to remove these staff from the park."

Queens Park maintenance staff have been praised on social media for their efforts.
