Fire at Queens Park: back of garden storage building deliberately set alight
A part of a Queens Park building was deliberately set on fire over the weekend - according to an immediate fire investigation.
The incident happened yesterday (June 19), at the back of the East Lodge building used for garden storage, Victoria Avenue.
One fire engine from Crewe attended the incident - reported to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service at 2:10pm.
Cheshire Police arrived the scene after a number of park visitors went to look at the incident.
Due to a small amount of gas detected at the scene of the fire, the gas board were asked to attend
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "A building used for garden storage was well alight in a Victoria Avenue garden.
"Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and isolated gas as there was small amount detected.
"The gas board was asked to attend and police were also at the scene due to a large number of onlookers.
"A fire investigation was carried out and it was thought was fire was started deliberately, involving garden furniture outside the building."
The Queens Park East lodge building only suffered smoke damage.
A number of items outside the building were melted.
