Crewe pub raising funds for 76-year-old pensioner 'brutally attacked' in street
A Crewe community pub is raising funds for a 76-year-old pensioner recently attacked in the street - suffering dislocated shoulders and a fractured neck.
The Hop Pole, Wistaston Road, is appealing for help to support Bill - seriously assaulted on Gresty Road last week (November 5).
Bill suffered serious injuries in the assault. He was rushed into Royal Stoke University Hospital.
The 76-year-old is currently suffering from pneumonia, two dislocated shoulders, a broken neck and other injuries.
On Thursday (November 10), The Hop Pole created an appeal for any donations that can help Bill.
The Crewe pub announced the appeal on social media, saying: "This is Bill. He is a 76 year old man who got brutally attacked near the Alex last Saturday on his way home.
"He is in Royal Stoke Hospital with pneumonia, two broken shoulders a broken neck and other injuries.
"Bill only ever sits there and reads his book and is always nice to everyone he meets.
"The 22-year-old and 24-year-old who took this upon themselves to do this to such a lovely man.
"We are raising money for his recovery.
"Anything will be a great help towards his recovery, as you know we promote a safe warm cosy pub.
"Let's not let this happen again to anyone.
"Please message or pop in if you would like to donate towards this lovely man's recovery."
You can contact The Hop Pole on Facebook or pop in to the pub to donate towards Bill's recovery.
On Monday (November 7), a 22-year-old man and 24-year-old man were arrested for the serious assault on Bill.
