AFTER-SCHOOL clubs run by YMCA Crewe have been given a donation to buy arts and crafts by a house builder.

Anwyl Homes awarded £390 of funding so the charity can buy supplies for its clubs on the Sherborne Estate.

It is one of the donations made from the £5,000 'Love from Anwyl' funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to its development at Alexandra Gardens on Sydney Road.

YMCA Crewe runs a programme of after-school clubs and holiday activities, which are free to attend and open to all children aged 9 to 15.

Lisa Cormack, fundraising and communications officer at YMCA Crewe, said: "Our clubs provide a range of activities, support, games and crafts that ensure the children have regular contact with positive and fun people in a safe and relaxed environment.

"We're very grateful for Anwyl's donation, which will ensure we have a £10 budget for each of the 39 sessions taking place this year."

As a charity, the purchase of materials for the YMCA's after school clubs is solely reliant on donations.

Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes, said: "The YMCA is doing wonderful work on the Sherborne Estate, engaging with young people in a really creative and positive way.

"We're pleased to have been able to support this vital work."

Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to new homes being built at Alexandra Gardens.
