Taylor Wimpey has launched a public consultation on proposals for up to 200 new homes, including 30 per cent affordable, on land off Alfred Potts Way in Shavington.

Cheshire East can currently demonstrate a 3.8-year housing land supply, representing a shortfall of around 3,151 homes against its requirement.

The site sits next to the existing Cherry Tree Park development and provides a logical extension to an established community in a way that respects Shavington's distinct identity and character.

The proposals include:

• Up to 200 high-quality new homes in a range of sizes and tenures;
• 30% affordable housing to help more local people remain within their community;
• new public open space and landscaping, creating an attractive extension to Cherry Tree Park;
• new planting and wildlife habitats delivering at least 10% biodiversity net gain; and
• improved walking and cycling connections between the development and the wider village

Land and Planning Director at Taylor Wimpey, Ian Harrison, told Nub News: "Shavington and the wider Cheshire East area need more homes, including affordable homes that give local people the opportunity to remain within their community and stimulate growth in the local area."

"Our proposals have been designed as a natural extension to Cherry Tree Park, helping Shavington to grow while protecting its identity."

"Taylor Wimpey already has a strong connection with Shavington through the delivery of Cherry Tree Park and Willowbrook Grange.

"We understand the area and want to build on that experience by delivering a range of high-quality homes, public open space and improved connections that will benefit the existing and future residents of Shavington.

"We are now asking local people to review the proposals and share their views before the plans are developed further."

The public consultation opens today and will run until Thursday 24 September.

As part of the consultation, Taylor Wimpey will also be holding a live public webinar, giving local people an opportunity to hear more about the proposals and ask questions directly to the project team.

All feedback received during the consultation will be reviewed and considered before the proposals are finalised and a planning application is submitted to Cheshire East Council.
