Local residents are being invited to share their views on proposals for a major new mixed-use development in Crewe, Weavers Green.

Cheshire Fresh Ltd has launched a public consultation on plans for a "high-quality," "sustainable" new community, including up to 2,100 new homes, employment space, a local centre, community facilities, provision for a new primary school and extensive green infrastructure.

Located close to Leighton Hospital and Bentley Motors, Weavers Green is one of the few major deliverable growth sites in Crewe, playing an important role in meeting long-term housing and employment needs.

This development is designed to provide homes for families, young professionals and older residents, including affordable housing to support local people and key workers.

The plans also include up to 65,500 sq.ft of employment space, supporting jobs in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, research and retail, and strengthening Crewe's economy while creating clear pathways from education into long-term employment.

Environmental responsibility is central to the proposals. The development will feature riverside parkland along the River Weaver, green corridors, enhanced habitats and sustainable drainage systems.

Homes will be designed to meet Future Homes Standard requirements, supported by low-carbon construction methods and renewable energy opportunities.

Ahead of submitting a planning application to Cheshire East Council, Cheshire Fresh Ltd is seeking feedback from local residents, community groups and stakeholders to help shape the final plans.

Director, Bob Nicholson, told Nub News: "We are pleased to be launching this consultation and inviting local people to share their views on our emerging proposals for Weavers Green.

"Our aim is to deliver more than just new homes. We want to create a well‑designed, well‑connected neighbourhood that supports local jobs, protects the environment and brings lasting benefits to Crewe.

"By bringing forward a site that is available now, deliverable and capable of meeting the area's clear need for new housing and employment space, Weavers Green represents a real opportunity to help Crewe grow in a sustainable and coordinated way.

"By engaging and listening carefully to feedback, we can ensure the planning application reflects local priorities and delivers a neighbourhood that makes a positive contribution to Crewe's future."

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to take part in the consultation.

A dedicated project website has been established where people can view the proposals in more detail and complete an online feedback form.

Consultation leaflets have also been distributed locally, providing information about the scheme and details of how to get involved.

The consultation will remain open until Monday 6 April. All feedback received will be carefully reviewed and summarised in a Consultation Statement, accompanying the planning application.

The key thing missed in the report (because it's mostly copied from the what the developer wrote on the project website) is that this is NOT in Crewe. It's in "Leighton, Minshull Vernon and Woolstanwood" Parish Council's area and they voted most definately to not be part of Crewe. The proposal is so massive it reaches the boundary of Church Minshull Parish Council near the marina. With all the development between Bentely and the Hospital already in progress this means that there will be a hosuig area almost as big as Haslington - but the only facility in it will be the hospital. Assuming that most of the residents won't be hospital workers that's a lot more commuter drivers on the A530 (since the nearest bus stop is too far and they usually build the estate roads to narrow for a new bus route). And then there will be the teenagers whose catchment area high school will be miles away and the rest of us will have to subsidise the school bus. The chances of CEC stopping this are close to nil for the simple reason that the planning office does not have enough qualified staff and is also busy with the Adlington mire.

I am 76, lived in Crewe all my life. New hospital will not have enough beds for present population so no chance for anyone with all new builds going up.. Sense needs to prevail now before its really too late
