This year's Christmas production launched at Crewe's Edwardian theatre on Friday 8 December, starring X Factor winner Matt Terry as Prince Charming.

The Cast

This year's Christmas production launched at Crewe Lyceum Theatre on Friday 8 December, starring X Factor winner Matt Terry as Prince Charming (Ryan Parker).

Terry demonstrated his versatility on stage, mixing his talented vocals with assured acting throughout.

Alongside Terry, was Ste Johnston (The Batman 2022), who returned as Buttons.

Johnston was seemingly even more comical than his performance as Wishee Washee in 2022's Aladdin (no mean feat).

A standout moment was the Lancashire actor being covered in foam from head to toe after being bombarded with pies.

Stage chemistry was seen between Johnston and treasured dame Malcolm Lord (Rainbow), who reappeared as Fairy Godmother.

Lord made his seventh consecutive Christmas pantomime appearance at Crewe, his 35th overall.

The Christmas production made the most of Eve Parson's singing capabilities with Matt Terry, where the pair lit the stage with harmonious duets (Wes Webster Photography).

Glasgow performer and The Dance School of Scotland graduate, Eve Parsons, made her Crewe debut as Cinderella, fitting into the slippers perfectly.

Taking on the role of the ugly sisters were Eleanor Burke (Aroma) and Jordan Cambridge-Taylor (Flatula), who were exceptional as the pantomime villains.

Completing the main cast, MTA graduate, Carl Douglas, delivered a confident performance as Dandini, showing his potential for bigger future acting roles.

The Verdict - 4/5

Overall, Cinderella is a thoroughly enjoyable spectacle, offering quality entertainment for all ages.

Cinderella lasts for 130 minutes (including interval) (Ryan Parker).

Writer, Iain Lauchlan and director, Bryan Hodgson, leave no glass slipper unturned with modern take of the 1950 Disney tale.

This is certainly not a good year (if there ever was one), to give Crewe Lyceum Theatre's Christmas Panto a miss.
