RESIDENTS should have their say on a raft of active travel schemes - including one at Sir William Stanier School in Crewe - says Cheshire East leader Sam Corcoran.
In one of the Labour councillor's Twitter video updates, Cllr Corcoran said he "would like to see more" of the measures come to the borough.
Cllr Corcoran said: "The government has provided funding for active travel schemes — the aim is to promote cycling and walking.
"A number of schemes have already been implemented in Cheshire East and I would like to see more if further funding is provided.
"Cycling is good for your physical health, and obesity is a risk for Covid-19. It's good for your mental health, and it's fun.
"It's also good for the environment, and if it reduces reliance on public transport and sharing cars, it's good for Covid-19 reduction too.
"Please do respond to the consultation, suggest improvements to the existing schemes, or suggest new schemes."
In total, eight sites in Cheshire East have seen measures introduced to encourage residents to make more journeys on foot or by bike.
They include a scheme currently under review near to Sir William Stanier School in Crewe which could see a 20mph zone and restricting through traffic to cyclists and pedestrians.
Better links for cyclists and improved access to the town centre from Crewe UTC are also proposed.
But the schemes are not all meeting with approval and one in Knutsford was dropped after it was found not to be the right fit for the town.
While one at Wilmslow was scaled down after "negative" public feedback according to a councillor.
