CREWE FC went down to defeat in a nine-goal Cheshire League thriller at Whaley Bridge.

Nathan Southern, Jordan Bennion, Jason McMullan and Tristan Sword were on the mark for Liam O'Reilly's side as the Derbyshire hosts clinched a 5-4 win.

Crewe have won one and lost two of their opening three Premier Division games and return to action at the Cumberland Arena on Saturday (October 24) when they host Poynton (K.O 2pm).

Sandbach Curshaws ran up double figures as they booked their place in the next round of the CREWE FA CUP.

The competition saw some one-sided ties, not least Curshaws' 12-0 thrashing of Crewe Town Reserves. Darren Bailey hit five and Ryan Simmons a brace while Jordon Bickerton, Sam Critchley, Cameron Mitchell, Reece Quinn and Jamie Street were the other scorers.

Mary Dendy triumphed over Elworth Park Rangers in an all Crewe and District League tie. Brandon Howman and Bjorn Hughes scored the goals in a 2-1 verdict.

Crewe Town Jaguars faced Cheshire League outfit Holmes Chapel and despite a gallant first half performance it was the visitors who took the spoils with a strong second half, finishing the game with a 6-0 win.

Sandbach Town also faced higher level opposition in Alsager Town Res and went down to a hefty 14-0 reverse.
