Armed police and a police helicopter have been called to a major incident in Crewe town centre, following reports of serious robbery.

Emergency services were deployed to Coral, Market Street, at 1:51pm on Thursday 18 April.

A man was reported to have entered the betting shop, making threats, before making off with a "quantity of cash."

People in Crewe town centre witnessed armed officers entering Coral, with a police helicopter seen circling over Crewe.

The helicopter was then seen hovering over Sandbach, where the man was arrested.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 1.51pm on Thursday 18 April, police were called to reports of a robbery at a betting shop in Market Street, Crewe. 

"The caller reported a man had entered the shop and made threats, before making off with a quantity of cash. 

"A man has since been arrested in Sandbach in relation to the incident."
