Cheshire Police are urgently appealing for witnesses, following an attempted robbery of a woman in the West End of Crewe.
At 9pm on Thursday 23 May, officers were made aware of reports of an attempted robbery near the junction with Bright Street and Richard Moon Street.
At around 8.50pm, a 54-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man. She reported he had grabbed her and asked for her handbag.
The victim managed to break free from the man and the suspect fled the scene in the direction of Goddard Street.
The suspect has been described as Asian, 6' tall, of a stocky build, was wearing dark trousers and a light-coloured bobble hat, and spoke with a foreign accent.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to get in touch with them.
Detective Sergeant Robert Bushell said: "We are currently conducting enquiries and as part of this, we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened.
"The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage of the reported incident, or any other information which may aid our investigation.
"You can contact Cheshire Police on 101, or via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML-1830795."
