A traditional Crewe pub, dating back to 1867, has been successfully trading under its new local owner since taking on the venue this autumn.

The Delamere Arms, best known as 'The Blazer,' Underwood Lane, officially reopened its doors again in September 2025 under a local Crewe resident, following a brief reopening in August.

According to late local historian, Peter Ollerhead, The Delamere Arms arose out of a grocer's shop, owned by a Richard and Elizabath Goulden, orginally from Davenham, with their surname naming a nearby street.

The Blazer now offers a 'Happy Hour,' Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, and hosts a popular bingo night every Thursday from 7.30pm {Photo: Ryan Parker).

The Blazer landlord told Nub News: "I love to take on challenges and this local boozer is one, but an exciting one.

"The previous landlord didn't last long, but I have been running this for a few months now and trade has steadily increased with me running this place outright.

"I am all about catering to what my customers enjoy, and doing this in a safe and friendly environment for all to enjoy.

"We now offer a Happy Hour, Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, thanking customers for their support with cheaper drinks.

"All sport is shown on our screens from football, racing, boxing, rugby and more, with the atmosphere friendly and spirited.

"We also host bingo nights from 7.30pm on Thursdays which have become our most popular event.

"There are DJ events being hosted here every weekend with the music genres mixed up to cater for everyone.

"Customers of The Pioneer Chippy are more than welcome to bring in their food to eat when purchasing a drink in here."
