A major new housing scheme for Crewe has been unveiled, including a primary school, nursery, and a 100-space car park aiming to tackle match day congestion at Crewe Alexandra in the Community's football centre.

IM Land, the strategic land arm of West Midlands-based IM Properties, has launched a public consultation on proposals for 500 homes across 74 acres of greenfield off Gresty Lane, Shavington.

The consultation runs until 9 January, featuring a mix of one- to five-bedroom houses, with 30 per cent affordable homes.

Plans also include allotments, a play area, extensive public open space, and a retained woodland.

Vehicle access would come from two points on Gresty Lane and one on Crewe Road, with pedestrian and cycle links designed to make the neighbourhood easy to navigate.

IM Land says feedback gathered will help shape a detailed masterplan, expected to be submitted to Cheshire East Council in the new year.

Senior land and planning manager at IM Land, Ian Deverell, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to not only create much-needed new homes for Crewe but also deliver high-quality infrastructure that will benefit the whole community.

"We know how important it is for people to have access to schools and to sport, as it helps bring people together and create a strong sense of community.

"That iss why we are working with the council and Crewe Alexandra in the Community to ensure these benefits are delivered in the right way."

A public consultation event will take place at Crewe Alexandra in the Community Soccer Centre on Thursday 11 December from 3pm to 7pm.
