- Support the business in deploying and implementing HSE initiatives, policies and procedures across all sites (UK and Internationally).
- Advise senior leaders on Health and Safety, and Environmental Legislation and other relevant compliance obligations.
- Ensure safe methods of working, prevention of hazards to health and suitability of plant, protective equipment and put in place adequate control measures.
- Initiate timely and appropriate actions in emergency situations, contact and communicate effectively with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and support accident recording and investigation processes, ensuring all incidents are reported in accordance with Group HSE policies.
- Ensure all sites have appropriate risk assessments in place such as PUWER/LOLER/COSHH as required including on-site contractor works and facility improvements.
- Support General Managers and Directors for all locations in the development of objectives and targets for HSE activities within agreed budgets.
- Implement the required HSE training programmes and ensure competency and training records are kept up to date.
- Manage the Unipart Group sustainability objectives and lead, deliver the rail sustainability target contributions for the various scope definitions.
- Ensure all required HSE documentation is provided to meet Unipart Rail and Unipart Group reporting requirements.
- Ensure each site has appropriate safety management and performance reporting. Regularly review and report accident trends for Business Units and Site(s).
- Report HSE concerns to Rail and Group leadership teams and various operating boards as required.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of the Company Safety Policy by carrying out inspections in association with site management and providing written reports of such inspections.
- Complete Health and Safety Audits including internal, ISO 45001/14001surveilliance audits, British Safety Council 5 and annual HSE submissions i.e. RoSPA and Swords of Honour.
- Continuously improving health, safety and environmental management systems.
- Ensure effective use of the Unipart Way and lean culture to drive Continuous Improvement.
- Manage and maintain the HSE department Communication Cell and appropriate metrics.
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Chartered Member of IOSH
- Understanding of Legislative HSE requirements (UK, USA, Australia)
- Operating and leading teams with multi-site HSE responsibilities.
- Delivering HSE in operational manufacturing, warehouse and office environments.
- Track record of working at all levels, from senior managers to the factory floor
- Ability to use good numerical skills with the ability to conduct trend analysis.
- Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to engage at all levels (internally and externally)
- Driving license
