A new community coffee shop has opened its doors in Crewe - supported by Co-op members.

Hope + Coffee, Derrington Avenue, officially launched on Saturday (October 22) - inside Hope Church Central.

The coffee shop has opened as place to socialise, get support and chill out.

The coffee shop is one of the new local Co-op causes - supported by Co-op members and the Co-op's Local Community Fund (Crewe Nub News).

It sells cards, inspirational books, gifts, charity clothes, Nespresso coffee and cake - along with free items donated by local businesses.

Manager of Hope + Coffee, Mrs Emma Howell, was delighted with the launch.

She told Nub News: 'This shop is a great way to connect with the community and get things cheaply."

"We looked for a unit in the town centre but it is too expensive.

"This is a warm space winter that sells second-hand things. There is also a free table of items donated by supermarkets and businesses.

"It's a great place to relax, have coffee, eat cake and chat.

"People have been coming in to find others to talk to, have a drink and chill out."

The coffee shop is also used for Asylum Seekers on Wednesdays - helping them to talk, relax and receive items of clothing they need.

The coffee shop is one of the new local Co-op causes - supported by Co-op members and the Co-op's Local Community Fund.

Hope + Coffee is open every Friday 10am to 12pm. It is also open the first three Saturdays of every month (Crewe Nub News).

Anyone who is a Co-op member and chooses this as a cause will help donate money directly to it.

For every £1 Co-op members spend on selected Co-op products and services, 2p goes back to members and Co-op gives the same to support community organisations and local causes.

Mrs Howell added: "Hope + Coffee is also a good place to get Christmas gifts from.

"We have new books and a number of advent calendars. We hope to see you soon."
