The Crewe Prize Draw, supported by Swansway Motor Group, has presented its second charity cheque, with The Wishing Well receiving almost £800 to help the charity reducing social isolation and tackling health inequalities locally.

The donation comes after just the first three prize draws, with The Wishing Well using some of the funds to repair its front door.

Graham White, of Manor Way, was announced as the latest winner of the £1,500 prize, wanting to spend it on a trip to Disneyworld Florida.

Nub News launched the Crewe Prize Draw to help raise money for local charities, with The Wishing Well one of four charity partners alongside Hopes and Beams, St. Paul's Centre and Chance Changing Lives.. In just four weeks, the Crewe Prize Draw has raised just under £2,000 for Crewe charities.

The £778.69 donation helps The Wishing Well continue to deliver a range of community-based health and wellbeing services across its seven venues in South Cheshire.

CEO of The Wishing Well, Charles Maines, said: "Last week our front doors at Jubilee House in Crewe experienced a technical malfunction which meant the doors were unable to work effectively for the guests, volunteers and staff members of the local charity.

"Jubilee House is the nerve centre and headquarters of the charity with approximately 200 people walking in and out of the building on any given day across its seven-day-a-week provision.

"Once the issue had been reported, the quote coming back would have been another one of those unexpected costs that could derail the charity.

"However, because of the Crewe Prize draw, the issue was resolved and paid for quickly and now the doors are working fine again meaning that the centre is fully open and accessible to the community.

"A huge thank you to the local community for buying Crewe Prize Draw tickets and quite literally keeping charities like ours open."

The next Crewe Prize Draw takes place next Thursday evening (13 August), with another guaranteed £1,500 top prize up for grabs together with four £20 prizes.
