A Crewe resident has hit out at a new town centre electronic advertisement billboard - believing the sheer brightness of it will cause a serious accident.

The new LED digital billboard was constructed last month (August) on the corner of Earle Street and Vernon Way - behind two zebra crossings.

Nicki Dee (38), posted on her Facebook community group Crewe Town News - expressing frustration towards a new electronic advertisement billboard.

She said: "The brightness from this board in the dark is going to cause an accident.

"Anyone walking from the pubs, crossing the road to walk over Earl Street Bridge is going to be killed in the dark, as drivers are blinded by the ridiculous brightness from this screen.

"It is impossible to see pedestrians in the dark. They'll be a death before long mark my words."

Nicki Dee called on Cheshire East Council to tackle the issue when speaking to Nub News today (September 13):

Nikci Dee said the brightness from the billboard in the dark is going to cause an accident (Crewe Nub News).

"I've found lot's of local residents to share the same opinion as me.

"It's great that the billboard is in place, the council just need to turn the brightness of the screen down.

"How the billboard has passed health and safety as it stands I'll never know.

"The brightness is dangerous.

"It's going to cause an accident. Especially with the darker nights drawing in.

A Nub News reader raised the new advertisement billboard issue last week - September 7 (Twitter).

"If Cheshire East do not rectify the issue they will soon have a death on their hands due to a driver knocking down a pedestrian after the driver being blinded by the brightness from the billboard."

A similar LED advertisement billboard was approved by Cheshire East Council for Hungerford Road bridge last week (September 6).
