Firefighters called to early morning Crewe house blaze after microwave fault

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled an early morning Crewe house blaze - after a microwave fault caused a fire within the kitchen.

The incident on Cheyney Walk happened at 6:31am yesterday (September 12).

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called with two fire engines from Crewe attending the scene.

Two fire engines from Crewe arrived at the scena and put out the blaze (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

On arrival, firefighters discovered a microwave fire that had spread to the kitchen of a property.

The firefighters put out the blaze and took the microwave outside.

Neighbouring properties were checked to ensure there was no fire spread.

A microwave fault caused a fire within the kitchen of a Crewe property (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

No one was hurt in the incident. The Crewe property suffered minor kitchen damage.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "There was a small fire in the kitchen of a Cheyney Walk property involving a microwave.

"The crews put out the fire and took the affected microwave outside.

The kitchen fire was caused by a microwave. A high pressure fan was used to clear smoke from the kitchen (Wikimedia Commons).

"They hot spotted neighbouring properties to make sure there was no fire spread."
