A GYMNAST with the LS Gymnastics Crewe Academy has taken gold with his team at the European TeamGym champion Portugal.

Lewis Lakin competed with the GB junior TeamGym mixed team which made history by being the first Great Britain team to win gold at the championships.

At the age of 18 Lewis has proved to be an inspiration to so many at the club. In October he and his senior LS Gymnastics team mates came close to winning the first team gold in an event that incorporates floor and tumble trampette.

A spokesperson for the club said: "We are so proud of Lewis and as a family run club we could not thank all the families and members who achieve so much through being amazing members.

"We thank the GB team and British Gymnastics for their ongoing support."

Club members Naomi Bostock and Sharni Jones secured silver medals representing GB in the mixed senior event at the TeamGym Europeans.

The club thanked Apollo Buckingham Health and Science campus for its support providing facilities for its 650 members.
