CREWE firsts were well beaten after a poor batting show at Cheadle on a weekend in which all three of the club's senior sides finished off on the losing side.

After restricting Cheadle 2nd XI to 127-5 in a 20-over fixture in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League Division Three, Crewe lost openers Gary Jennison and Daniel Starnes with only 14 on the scoreboard.

Skipper Tate Rutter hit 26 to take the score on, but his departure at 63-5 was soon followed by a batting collapse with five wickets falling for the addition of just 18 runs as the visitors were skittled for 81.

The 46-run defeat leaves Crewe third from bottom of the table with one win from their four games thus far.

Crewe's seconds' total of 100-7 in 34 overs was never going to be enough in their Division Eight fixture with Cheadle 3rd XI.

Max Parry top scored with 25 for Crewe, but the visitors to the Vagrants knocked off their target in the 27th over to record an eight-wicket with Joe Degg unbeaten on 69.

The thirds completed a gloomy weekend as they went down to a 66-run cup defeat at home against Moddershall and Oulton.

The visitors posted 151-8 from their 40 overs, but Crewe limped to 85 all out in the 24th over with Lew Bacon's unbeaten 43 in vain.
