Grassroots football: Crewe Regional wide open after leaders Sydney Arms taste defeat

THERE were some surprising defeats for Sydney Arms and Nantwich Pirates in the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGUE'S end-of-season competition.
The leaders and second-placed club were beaten by Northwich-based opponents Cuddington and Winnington SC as the contest at Division One Group A gets tighter by the week.
Ben Reddock and Aaron Davies were on the mark for Sydney, but Cuddington edged it 3-2 with a brace from Jordan Coles and an effort from from Elliott Orton.
Nantwich Pirates rather ran aground against Winnington SC with Ben Harrison (2) and Jake Bayley scoring for the visitors in a 3-0 win. The Pirates also contrived to miss a penalty kick.
Talbot thrust themselves into contention with a 3-1 win at C & N Utd with Jordan Bennion netting twice and Scott Rankine on the scoresheet too.
Broadhurst lead the way in Division One, Group B maintaining their 100 per cent record with an 8-0 demolition of White Horse.
Taylor Kennerley hit a hat-trick and Tom Hassall, Dan Martin, Dan Griffiths, Dom Johnson and an own goal completed the home side's scoresheet.
Sandbach Town and Audlem played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Will Cork's late effort ensuring the visitors grabbed a share of spoils.
After Audlem opened the scoring Jake Tew levelled for Sandbach and a late penalty from Matt Timms seemed to have secured them a win.
AFC Talbot beat JS Bailey 3-1, with Mike Blundell getting two, and Tom Butler one. Ryan Millington netted for the away team.
Crewe FC Reserves ran up a big scoreline in their CHESHIRE LEAGUE Reserve League 2 clash with Nathan Southern helping out a youthful side.
The first team frontman's hat-trick contributed to a 6-0 win over Golbourne.
