ALEX Morris wants Crewe to gather momentum to take into next season after an uplifting first win in nine games.
A roaring second-half comeback on Good Friday meant that the Alex interim boss and his assistant, Lee Bell, were able to celebrate success in their first game in charge.
Avoiding a relegation hangover was the priority and an energetic performance as well as some clinical finishing for once were delivered to long-suffering fans after weeks of underachievement.
Tuesday night's assignment at Sheffield Wednesday and the visit of Ipswich next Saturday may look tough on paper, but Morris is confident his players can finish the season in style.
"Hopefully this momentum will drive the players into the final three games. There was a lot of joy and smiling faces in the changing room afterwards. But one win isn't enough, successive wins is what we have to focus on now," he said.
"Let's be honest are we going to win at Hillsborough is that likely? Not as likely as us winning today. But we're going to have a real good go at it. If we don't then let's be competitive in the game and then we can aim to beat Ipswich in our final home game.
"If we do then all of a sudden we can get a good points haul, everyone has a spring in their step and the whole club can build towards next season."
This fixture is likely to be repeated in League Two as AFC Wimbledon, while keeping alive their hopes of staving off relegation with a high draw count, are incapable of winning games of football - they have now gone a staggering 24 games without a win.
Yet they led through on-loan Birmingham City striker Sam Cosgrove's stunning 19th-minute strike.
Crewe dominated possession, though, but needed a mistake by the Dons' goalscorer to level on the hour mark. Mandron gratefully accepted a misplaced backpass and rounded keeper Nik Tzanev to slot home.
And the Railwaymen were ahead soon after (62) with Chris Long driving in from a tight acute angle after Oli Finney thrashed an effort against the underside of the bar.
Pressing more in hope than with any purpose, the visitors were caught out deep into stoppage time (90+8) with Tommy Lowery releasing Mandron, who squared for sub Bassala Sambou who squeezed a far-post finish after Tzanev kept out his first effort.
It was the former Fortuna Sittard striker's second goal for the club and secured Crewe their first three-goal tally of the campaign.
That lack of threat up front will no doubt be among Morris' priorities if he is confirmed as the permanent successor to Dave Artell.
"It's no coincidence that if you put goalscorers on the pitch you are going to have a goal threat," added the interim manager.
"Goals have been few and far between for us this season and that has not always been the fault of the strikers. That's often because we've not been up at the top end of the pitch often enough."
