Mid Cheshire Hospitals Trust is now in England's bottom six for hitting A&E waiting time targets - according to the latest statistics from a report.

The "Been Let Down" Report, was officially revealed last month (June), highlighting 99% of NHS Trusts are falling short of the A&E waiting times target

In May, it discovered the trust that runs Leighton Hospital, only managed to ensure 59.9% of patients in A&E were admitted, transferred or discharged - within four hours of arrival.

This is way below the NHS target for such A&E waiting times, which stands at 95%.

This Mid Cheshire figure was a slight improvement on April, however, when only 55.8% of patients were admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours of arrival.

Mid Cheshire has been in England's sixth lowest performing across England during the past two months.

The North West was the most affected area in May for A&E waiting times.

It currently has four of the 10 lowest-performing trusts in England.

Overall in England, just 73% of patients were seen within four hours off attending A&E in May 2022.

The situation has worsened when comparing figures to this time last year.

The Been Let Down report found 99% of NHS trusts are falling short of the A&E waiting times target - including Mid Cheshire Hospitals (NHS).

In May 2021, overall performance figures showed 83.7% of patients were seen within the four-hour target, while this was the case for 76.3% of those in Major A&E.
