A SCHOOL choir joined dignitaries to switch on Crewe's Tree of Light.

The annual ceremony returned to Crewe Crematorium after last year's cancellation to offer residents an opportunity to remember loved ones over the Christmas period.

Those attending were able to see their star, dedicated to a loved one, on the Tree of Light.

The compere on the night was Rob Wykes and the children's choir from St. Thomas More's School sung 'Believe' and 'Silent Night'.

Crewe Town Mayor Cllr Tom Dunlop and Catherine Morgan-Jones from The End of Life Partnership both gave readings.

Arun Kanjilal lit the memory candle and Deborah Edgeley from Fall in Green sung a poem while her musical partner, Mark Sheeky, played the keyboards.

The MicWire choir led by Kate Cubley sung 'Wintersong'.

At the end of the ceremony Rob asked the large audience to shine a light for their loved ones and he then read a prayer to close the service.
