Three-year-old pony rescued after two-vehicle crash on busy road near Crewe
Cheshire and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Services rescued a three-year-old pony - after it became 'stuck' in a two-vehicle crash near Crewe.
The incident on the A500 Barthomley, just five miles from Crewe, happened at 1:05pm on Saturday (August 20).
Three-year-old pony, Romeo, became 'stuck' when a heavy goods vehicle collided with a vehicle pulling a horse trailer.
Fire engines from Alsager, Lymm and Bollington along with a crew from Leek (Staffs Fire and Rescue Service), arrived at the scene - rescuing the pony.
All people involved in the incident survived without any major injuries.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Animal rescue trained firefighters attended a road traffic collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and and a vehicle pulling a horse trailer that had left a pony stuck inside.
"Crews from Cheshire and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Services attended the scene.
"Specialist equipment was used by the firefighters and animal rescue team to release the pony, three year old Romeo, with a vet in attendance to ensure the pony was comfortable throughout the extrication process.
"Romeo was reported to be doing well after his ordeal."
