Crewe firefighters tackle large train blaze for almost three hours

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service firefighters dealt with a large train fire in Crewe at a cargo depot - taking almost three hours to put it out.
The incident at a train cargo depot on Wistaston Road, happened at 10:48pm on Friday (August 19).
Two fire engines from Crewe and one fire engine form Nantwich attended the scene.

A large fire was discovered in the engine compartment of one of the trains.
It took the Crewe and Nantwich firefighters two and a half hours to put out the fire.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to an incident at a train cargo depot in Crewe where a fire was discovered in the engine compartment of one train.
"The fire was extinguished by on-site staff and crews using extinguishers and two hose reel jets.

"Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours and thirty minutes."
On the same night, firefighters were called to a first-floor flat fire involving an oven, in Crewe
The incident on Marshfield Avenue happened at 6:28pm - with one fire engine from Nantwich attending the scene,
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue service spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to a first-floor flat in Crewe after a fire had started in an oven.

"A large fan was used to clear the smoke logged rooms and a thermal imaging camera was used to check for signs of hot spots."
