Three people from Crewe, along with two others, have been charged in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old boy in Greater Manchester - following his death in 2022.

On Saturday 17 September 2022, emergency services responded to a concern for the welfare of a teenager on Atholl Drive in Heywood, Rochdale.

17-year-old, Callum Riley, was found with serious injuries at the scene and sadly died a short time later.

Tony Adams, 34, Michelle Conaghan, 34 and Niomi Conaghan, 18, all of Minshull New Road, have been charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old, Callum Riley (Ryan Parker).

A murder investigation was then launched.

On Wednesday 21 June, 2023, five people were charged in connection with the murder of Callum - with three from Crewe.

Tony Adams, 34, Michelle Conaghan, 34 and Niomi Conaghan, 18, all of Minshull New Road, attended Manchester Magistrates' Court on Thursday 22 June.

Dale Heywood, 25, of Windermere Road, Middleton, and a 17-year-old boy also attended in connection with the teenager's murder.

Those who have been charged are:

  • Tony Adams (22/03/1989) of Minshull New Road, Crewe was charged with murder, section 18 assault, and criminal damage.
  • Michelle Conaghan (24/08/1988) of Minshull New Road, Crewe was charged with assisting an offender.
  • Niomi Conaghan (25/11/2004) of Minshull New Road, Crewe was charged with assisting an offender.
  • Dale Heywood (03/08/1997) of Windermere Road, Middleton was charged with murder, section 18 assault, and criminal damage.
  • A 17-year-old boy has also been charged with murder, section 18 assault and criminal damage.

The coroner's record showed Callum's provisional cause of death to be from a stab wound.

Last year, the teenager's mum paid tribute, saying: "Callum was a strong and caring young man, loved so deeply by his family, friends and his girlfriend. 

"His love for his mother and his brothers was immeasurable.

"A lovely lad, with a good heart, protective of his family and always the best of intentions. Stolen away from us far too young in life. 

"He will be forever missed, and remembered with Love. Life will never be the same again."
