A major Crewe town centre road is currently closed during the daytime, allowing a junction to be resurfaced close to Grand Junction Retail Park.

Earle Street, between the junction of Vernon Way and Grand Junction Retail Park Roundabout, is closed in both directions from 9:30am to 3:30pm all week.

These roadworks, which started on Monday 22 January, allow the resurfacing of Earle Street and its junction with Rainbow Street.

A diversion is currently in place, with motorists needing to access Grand Junction Retail Park from Queen Street or Manchester Bridge (Ryan Parker).

Works are taking place at the same time on Brierley Street, for routine gully cleaning.

All roadworks are expected to be completed by 3:30pm on Friday 26 January.

A Traffic Direct Ltd letter to local residents and business owners read: "We are writing to inform you of major roadworks that will commence on January 22 for approximately a five-day period.

The five-day roadworks allow the resurfacing of Earle Street/ Rainbow Street junction and Earle Street (Ryan Parker).

"Earle Street will be closed in both directions, from the junction of Vernon Way, to the roundabout at Grand Junction Retail Park.

"Access will still be available to the retail park via a diversion.

"Works will start at 9:30am until approximately 3:30pm daily (22 January to 26 January).

"The reason for the works is to resurface the junction of Earle Street/ Rainbow Street.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
