Certain teenagers are entitled to free fitness memberships at Crewe Lifestyle Centre this summer.

Registered charity, Everybody Health and Leisure will launch a funded gym and swim membership for young people aged 14 to 16 years, in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.

The memberships, being funded by Cheshire East Council as part of the Department for Education holiday activity and food programme (HAF), will provide free, unlimited access to Everybody's gyms and swimming pools at their leisure centres across Cheshire East from July 1 to August 31.

Director of health and Communities and deputy CEO at Everybody Health & Leisure, Kerry Shea, said: "We are grateful to receive this funding from Cheshire East Council, so that we can offer this valuable service to 14 to 16 year-olds in our communities."

"Teenagers often fall through the gaps of funded holiday provision, and this is a brilliant initiative to make sure we can support these young people to be more physically active throughout the summer."

The HAF programme provides free activities during the main school holidays to children and young people in receipt of benefit-related free school meals, funded by the Department for Education as part of the government's HAF programme being delivered across Cheshire East.

Project Manager, at Cheshire East Council, Douglas Hubbert, said: "Cheshire East is thrilled to announce our commitment to fostering health and well-being among young people in Cheshire East.

"This holiday season, we are proud to work in partnership with Everybody to provide healthy and enriching activities at no cost to those on free school meals."

The memberships are being funded by Cheshire East Council, as part of the Department for Education holiday activity and food programme (HAF) (Everybody).

"Additionally, we are excited to offer teens free access to the gym and swimming at Everybody Health & Leisure during July and August.

"Our goal is to ensure that all youth have the opportunity to stay active, healthy, and engaged during their holidays as part of the HAF programme."
