Crewe man charged with drink driving and possession of class A drug
A Crewe man has been charged with drink driving and possession of a class A drug in the town, with him set to appear in court next month.
On Sunday 16 June, Cheshire Police witnessed a vehicle being driven at high speed on Nantwich Road.
At 9:25pm, officers pulled over the vehicle on Salisbury Avenue, believing he was under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested after failing to provide a breath test. He was also found to be in possession of a class A drug.
John Thomas Collins, 51, of Crewe South, has since been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and possession of a Class A drug.
He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Monday 22 July.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 9:22pm on Sunday 16 June, police observed a vehicle driving at excess speed on Nantwich Road in Crewe.
"Officers subsequently stopped the car on Salisbury Avenue at 9.25pm and the driver was arrested after failing to provide a breath test and being found in possession of illegal drugs.
"John Thomas Collins, 51, of Crewe South, has since been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and possession of a Class A drug.
"He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Monday 22 July."
