Crewe town centre will come alive this October with the first ever Crewe Spooktacular, a brand-new celebration packed with Halloween fun, live entertainment and free activities for all ages.

The event is being delivered by Discover Crewe, the public-facing brand of Crewe Business Improvement District (BID), established in 2024 to support local businesses, raise the town's profile and host events that encourage people to visit.

Chair of Crewe BID and General Manager of South Cheshire Glass, Graham Saunders, told Nub News: "This is the first year we've brought everything together under one town-wide theme, and it's great to see businesses getting involved in their own ways.

"The Crewe Spooktacular is all about giving families a free reason to spend time in the town and enjoy it together, with something different to discover wherever you go."

At 'The Crewe Spooktacular,' families can enjoy face painting, pumpkin painting, spooky sand art, willow weaving and crazy golf, alongside live performances from the Stray Horns roaming brass band, Turbo and Dai comedy dance acts, and stilt walkers (Discover Crewe).

The Halloween celebrations begin on Saturday 18 October, with the launch of the Spooktacular Character Trail on Nantwich Road.

Running until Friday 24 October, the trail invites families to set off on a spooky adventure to find life-sized statues of Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Thor, Slimer and Kung Fu Panda hidden inside local businesses including United Carpets, Domino's, Stephenson Browne, Butters John Bee Estate Agents, Repair World Direct and Apparel.

Families who find all six and take a selfie or photo at each one will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 to spend in any Crewe business.

Trail maps are available from Discover Crewe's website, and families are encouraged to share their photos by tagging @DiscoverCrewe on social media.

The main event, The Crewe Spooktacular, takes place on Saturday 25 October, when Lyceum Square, Victoria Centre and Market Square will be filled with free Halloween activities from 11am to 3.30pm.

Families can enjoy face painting, pumpkin painting, spooky sand art, willow weaving and crazy golf, alongside live performances from the Stray Horns roaming brass band, Turbo and Dai comedy dance acts, and stilt walkers.

A fancy dress competition at 2pm will give families the chance to win tickets to this year's pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, with a final performance in Lyceum Square bringing the celebrations to a close.

As part of the day's activity, Crewe Market Hall will host a Geeky Gala and Comic Con, while Grand Junction Retail Park will run its own Pumpkin Junction giveaway between 11am and 1pm, where shoppers can spin to win prizes.

Each part of the town is taking on its own spooky identity for the occasion, with the town centre becoming the Haunted Heart of Crewe, Nantwich Road showing its darker side as Nantwitch Road, and Grand Junction Retail Park transforming into Pumpkin Junction.

Graham added: "We want this to become an annual tradition that families look forward to year after year. It is the perfect excuse to come together and celebrate, and we are proud to be putting Crewe firmly on the map with this."
