The road, which was recently altered for the new North West Crewe Package (NWCP) development, was targeted to be opened sooner, but this never materialised.

These maintenance works caused significant traffic disruption in the Leighton area.

Congestion was eased when Cheshire East Council opened the new Tottys Hall Way this July, connecting Minshull New Road with the A530 Middlewich Road and Bob Brown Way (through to Leighton Hospital).
