Remembering Shaun Kettle: Crewe Gang Show performer's life celebrated 25 years on

Family and friends of a young cystic fibrosis sufferer recently gathered at Crewe Golf Club to celebrate his life, 25 years on from his death.

Shaun Kettle was a member of the 18th S.W.C. Scout Group (Nobody's Own) and also took part in the popular scouts 'Crewe Gang Show', staged every two years at the Lyceum Theatre.

Sadly, Shaun's battle with the life-shortening genetic condition ended in 2000 at the age of 19.

25 years on, to celebrate Shaun's life, former Gang Show supporters invited Shaun's family and close friends to a special luncheon.

The Gang Show Fellowship is a group of Gang Show enthusiasts who gather two or three times a year to socialise and look back on the show's 87 year's history.

Shaun first took to the stage as an eight-year-old cub scout and performed in subsequent shows throughout the 90s.

An after-lunch audiovisual presentation took place at the event, focusing on Shaun's numerous performances with the Gang.

The shows former producer told Nub News: "In a show full of stars, Shaun's star shone just that little brighter.

"Shaun loved performing and spending time with his many Gang Show pals.

Shaun Kettle was a member of the 18th S.W.C. Scout Group (Nobody's Own) and also took part in the popular scouts 'Gang Show', staged every two years at Crewe Lyceum Theatre (Ryan Parker).

"He loved being part of the Crewe Gang Show team and, as far as possible, he was treated like any other member of the gang and that's exactly how he would have wanted it.

"Quite simply, he loved just being 'one of the gang'"
